New distributor enters SA market

South Africa : InoVatio Distribution has been accredited as a new distributor for Autodesk’s products. The brand new company will be supplying and supporting the range of Autodesk products, including AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD Raster Design, Autodesk Navisworks, Autodesk SketchBook Pro and Autodesk 3ds Max Design, into sub-Saharan Africa. Based in Midrand, InoVatio Distrbution is staffed by an experienced team promoting the products to architects, engineers, designers and draftsmen among others. Bell Micro partners with SaaSplaza

United Kingdom : multispecialist Bell Micro and SaaS platform provider SaaSplaza have signed a partnership which will launch a multi-vendor Enterprise Application Store (EAS) for the provisioning of white labelled software services through the cloud. The EAS will be populated with online solutions which will initially include Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, Online Backup and MXsweep Security Services. Software available in the EH will be provisioned through a single SAS 70 Type II certified panel eliminating the need for multiple contracts and managing liabilities, support contacts, service levels, metering and billing system.

Solar acquires parts of Otra

Denmark : cabling specialist Solar is acquiring parts of the activities of its competitor Otra Danmark, which is owned by the French Sonepar Group. The final acquisition is expected to take place at the beginning of September 2010. The business acquired by Solar Danmark consists primarily of sales of cabling to electrical contractors. Revenue from the activities acquired amounted to €27m in 2009. The activities related to utilities will be continued by Otra Danmark, which will thus be deleted from ITdistri database.

Avnet strengthens down under

Australia : American multispecialist Avnet has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire all of the outstanding shares of VAD itX Group Limited (itX), in an all cash merger valued at €52.5m. The acquisition is subject to the approval of itX’s shareholders, Australian court approval and other customary conditions for a transaction of this type. itX distributes software, hardware and services from the world’s leading suppliers including Oracle, IBM, HP, VMware, Apple, Citrix, Red Hat, and Trend Micro. In addition, itX includes Briell Marketing, a distributor of specialized printers and media for personal identification and security cards, medical and photographic imaging; Sydmed, a distributor of medical devices; and ICO, which provides IT hosting solutions. With approximately 150 employees, itX has offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Canberra and Adelaide. For fiscal year ended June 30, 2009, itX generated revenue of approximately €100m.
