Lenovo drops Ingram for its ThinkServer
Netherlands : while usually working with broadliners Copaco, ETC and Ingram, Chinese PC vendor Lenovo has decided to let only the two first distributors distribute its ThinkServer. According to Rene Hendriks, Lenovo Netherlands channel director, these products require a lot of knowledge in server business, which seemingly Ingram is lacking in this country (source : Computer Reseller News Nederland).

Already a Packeteer distributor, network and security VAD Itway has expanded its partnership with Blue Coat (the owner of Packeteer) to its full line of products. This partnership covers both Portugal and Spain (source : ChannelPartner España).

Ukraine : VAD Merisel Ukraine has become the official distributor of IP telephony vendor Zoom International.
A new owner for Komplett
Norway : e-tailer Komplett, who owns broadliner Norek and Swedish semi distributor Komplett.se Distribution, is being purchased by Norway richest man Stein Erik Hagen. Erik already owns 40% of Komplett shares through his investment company Canica Invest, and plans to purchase the remainder. However, Komplett’s board seems not to agree with Stein Erik Hagen’s offer, which may then become an hostile takeover (source : Computer Reseller News Danmark).
A fourth distributor for Avaya
Italy : Avaya has signed a few weeks ago a pan-European partnership with Westcon Group. Against all bets, this partnership also covers Italy, where the VAD has only a security activity. Therefore, Westcon Security Italy will become the fourth local Avaya distributor, beside Fiore, Tecnocael and Xerity (source : Computer Dealer and VAR Italia).
Silberhorn no more marketing director of Ingram
Germany : Peter Silberhorn, who was marketing director of broadliner Ingram Micro, has lost this function, because of the current reorganization of the company. It is yet unknown if he will get another assignment (source : ChannelPartner Deutschland).
Horizon stretches to BEA
United Kingdom : VAD Horizon Software, part of Avnet Technology Solutions, has been given the green light to support BEA VARs after Oracle’s recent acquisition of the vendor. Horizon, which is Oracle’s exclusive value added distributor in the UK, will also assist BEA partners to become Oracle partners and gain access to its product portfolio (source : Computer Reseller News United Kingdom).
