Tech Data interested into ABC Data
Poland : giant broadliner Tech Data, one of the few major foreign distributors in Poland, has announced thinking about purchasing shares of its local competitor ABC Data (formerly Actebis Polish subsidiary) from majority owner MCI Management. Such a move would lead Tech Data into consolidating its place on Polish market, as it is local number two and ABC Data is local leader. But more important : this would make difficult for Ingram Micro to get back locally in Poland, and gain rapidly a stronger marketshare than Tech Data, as other main distributors like Action SA, AB SA or Incom Group are marginally smaller than ABC Data. But according to MCI Management, some discussions are also opened with Ingram, which would not let its archrival take the lead so easily, while Tech Data has not yet been authorized to issue any takeover proposal to MCI (source : ITPartner Polska).
