Tech Data invests on Autodesk

DACH : broadliner Tech Data has entered into an agreement to acquire certain assets of Man and Machine's German-based Autodesk distribution operations. As a result of the transaction, Tech Data becomes the leading distributor of Autodesk's AEC (Architecture/Engineering/Construction) products in the Central Europe region, including Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Precise details are unknown.

Depo for sale

Russia : Anatoly Karachinsky, president of IBS Group, has officialized the fact that its company was in the process of selling broadliner and PC vendor Depo Computers to Russian Technologies. The deal is not finalized yet, and Anatoly has underlined the fact that Depo was not being sold in order for IBS to reimburse its debts (source : Computer Reseller News United Kingdom).

Al Futtaim opens doors at flagship Toshiba store

Middle East : IT and electronics vendor Toshiba has opened its first flagship store at the UAE’s Dubai Festival City in conjunction with sole distribution partner for the UAE, Al Futtaim Electronics. 3DSoc signs Aditya Infotech as VAD

India : 3DSoC announced the appointment of software specialist Aditya Infotech as a Value Added Distributor (VAD) for the exclusive distribution of the VISPublisher Suite of products in India. The VISPublisher Suite of products help companies develop the next generation of 3D Interactive, Multimedia eManuals by leveraging the 3D/CAD assets of a company. 3D eManuals are used extensively as training, product operation, repair and maintenance manuals (source : ChannelWorld India).

Almasa cements acquisition of rival distributor

Middle East : Almasa IT Distribution has put out a statement confirming the takeover of Dubai-based retail distributor Delta Business Products. The company says the acquisition is part of its “aggressive” growth plan for the region and will reinforce its coverage of the organised retail channel. According to Almasa, the acquisition of Delta will extend its operations to six cities across five Middle East countries and give it access to more than 370 major power retailers, including Carrefour and Plug-ins. It is although unknown how Delta subsidiaries Audiviz and Best Computers and Delta sales partners in Qatar (Quality International), Oman (Delta Muscat Trading) and Kuwait (Cygnet International Gernal Trading) are impacted by this acquisition (source : ITP Middle East).
