Scandinavia : American POS specialist BlueStar, through its European offices based in Germany, has decided to take a new step in its Europe conquest by purchasing Scandinavian ADC Nordic for an undisclosed amount. This company has offices in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

Bakotech inspects traffic with Smart-Soft

Ukraine : software specialist Bakotech has inked a distribution partnership with Russian editor Smart-Soft. Smart-Soft edits Traffic Inspector, a tool dedicated to Internet use monitoring (source : Astera Rossiya).

Tech Access hires new KSA boss

Saudi Arabia : Sun Microsystems distributor Tech Access has filled the country manager vacancy at its Saudi operation by hiring Wael Waheed from rival Mindware. Waheed replaces Saleh Al-Mutairi, who recently quit Tech Access to become the general manager of FVC in Saudi Arabia. (source : ITP Middle East).

Vivitek names Decibels India as distributor

India : Vivitek Projectors has announced its entry into the home entertainment segment, and has announced a multi-year distribution agreement with consumer electronics specialist Decibels India. Under the agreement, Decibels and its stores, Cinebels – the Jamo Shop will distribute Vivitek’s high-end range of DLP projectors through stores, dealers and the retail chains (source : ChannelTimes India).

Ingram promotes its client services director

Yves Carlier, who was client services director for Ingram Micro in France and Belgium, has been promoted to senior director, in charge of logistic strategy for Ingram Micro EMEA, reporting to vice-president Erich Bernscherer (source : ChannelNews France).

Sharptext switches distribution focus

Ireland : broadliner Sharptext has signalled a sharp switch of focus to value-added distribution, with plans to concentrate on about 10 key vendors and to shift fulfilment of volume products to its website. According to MD Paul White, the firm had spent 18 months reorganising the business to consolidate around lines of business that gave the best return for capital resources. White said the distributor had around 10 key vendors, including IBM, Cisco, Toshiba, Microsoft, Lenovo, 3Com and Sharp. It has also recently signed a deal with Acer to build up the brand in the business, corporate and reseller communities. Sharptext has vastly increased the volume lines available through its website by funnelling products from sister companies in Europe, such as Micro P and Gem in the UK (source : TechCentral Eire).

Tech Data on TV with Hauppauge

Belgium : broadliner Tech Data has unveiled a new distribution partnership with TV tuner Hauppauge (source : IT Reseller Belgique).

Tech Data distributes Autodesk for Architects

Broadliner Tech Data becomes the sole Autodesk distributor for its AEC (Architecture Engineering Construction) business. It will support all indirect sales Germany, Austria and Switzerland. From now on, the other former Autodesk distributor, Man and Machine, will act solely as a system integrator for these products in these countries (source : Computer Reseller News Deutschland).

Jarltech Europe and Epson France conclude a distributor agreement for France

France : POS specialist Jarltech becomes official distributor for Epson POS products in France. This agreement will contribute to improve the distribution in the country. Already being leading POS distributor for Epson in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands, Jarltech is going to provide the whole portfolio of Epson’s Retail Systems Division to French resellers, with overnight delivery if needed.
