Exclusive Networks expands in UK
United Kingdom : albeit already owning a sales office in the country since last year, French VAD Exclusive Networks has decided to go faster by acquiring majority shares (60%) of local VAD Arc Technology, whose management will keep some autonomy over strategy. Arc reached for its 2008-2009 fiscal year a turnover of about €16.55m. Exclusive plans to merge its 3-man team with Arc Technology 35-strong team and thus get a better credibility with vendors, all the more as UK is (too) often the first footprint of foreign vendors in Europe. Exclusive plans to open real soon a new subsidiary in Sweden and still has no official plans about Germany, the last major country in Europe it does not cover yet.
Acer notebooks for Kosatec
Germany : broadliner Kosatec has expanded its offer with Acer notebooks, which is part of the widening of its relationships with the Taiwanese vendor (source : ChannelPartner Deutschland).
ELKO becomes distributor of Sony Optiarc Europe products in Ukraine
Ukraine : PC components and peripherals specialist Elko has become official distributor in the Ukraine of optical disc drives products from Sony Optiarc Europe (Optiarc). In this market segment, ELKO Group is an experienced distributor of Optiarc products in the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) as well as in Central and Eastern European countries (Croatia, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia) where it is already represented.
A second distributor for Clavister
France : less than one year after signin with VAD Netpaq, Swedish UTM vendor Clavister has expanded its local distribution network through a partnership with network and security VAD Abbakan, to reach bigger system integrators.
New notebook distributor for Toshiba in Qatar
Qatar : Laptop vendor Toshiba is looking to strengthen its coverage of the Qatari market by appointing the local arm of Lebanon-based PC Dealnet as its local distribution partner. PC Dealnet Qatar, which is a joint venture between Salam International and ITG Holding, will serve as the official distributor for the vendor’s range of computers, peripherals and accessories (source : ITP Middle East).

Rosenmeier gets more brown

Didi Tech & Distribution in difficulties
Belgium : things are getting worse for broadliner Didi Tech & Distribution (new name of Didi Trade since around one year). The distributor is reorganizing and is using a new local law for activity continuity, which is in effect since last april. Didi Tech & Distribution is protected for three months against its creditors. Beside this, the company has suffered from a recent thunderstorm, with its roof collapsing on its technical premises, warehouses and offices : this should bring delays in managing latest orders (source : IT Reseller Belgique).
Azlan signs with Avaya
Tech Data, through its value-added division Azlan, has become the third distributor of Avaya telecoms products in Spain and Portugal. Other distributors are Afina and Noanet (source : Channel Insider España).
