Westcon Security Europe announces BlueTouch certification for resellers
Westcon Security has added 24×7 support for WAN Optimization and Secure Web Gateway solutions from Blue Coat Systems since recently becoming member of the Blue Coat BlueTouch Support Partner Program. The BlueTouch certification has been granted to Westcon Security Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Westcon Support is available 24×7 and is served by certified Blue Coat engineers.
Satland gets exclusive with Devolo
Germany : satellite specialist Satland has secured an exclusive distribution partnership with Devolo, around its dLAN TV Sat Starter Kit, the first DVB satellite receiver (DVB-S2) with HomePlug technology. With dLAN TV Sat, the satellite signal is distributed to every socket in the house by the satellite receiver (LNB or Multiswitch) without a satellite cable.
Computerlinks and HID Global join forces to bring chip and PIN style security solutions to resellers
British Islands : network and security VAD Computerlinks has agreed to distribute HID Global’s HID on the Desktop solution in the UK and Ireland. The announcement gives IT security resellers the means to deliver a simple, secure and convenient solution to their clients that combines physical and logical access on a single card combining three different uses – photo ID, door access and IT security. The agreement with HID Global adds a further set of components to Computerlinks’ IP physical security division. HID on the Desktop combines physical and logical access on a single card that can be used as a photo ID badge, a ‘key’ that opens doors and as a second authentication factor for logging into the IT infrastructure. The convergence of these three uses provides users with a ‘chip and pin’ style approach they will be familiar with from ATMs and in their high street stores.
A second distributor for PGP
Germany : cyphering specialist PGP has inked a distribution partnership with network and security VAD Wick Hill which thus becomes its second distributor in the country, beside DNS (source : ChannelPartner Deutschland).
headtechnology – new VASCO distributor in the CIS
Russian security VAD Headtechnology has been appointed official distributor of cyphering specialist Vasco in the whole CIS (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan) as well as in Bulgaria, Estonia, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.
Dell goes indirect in Scandinavia
Scandinavia : Dell has decided to sign its first distributor in the country. Supply specialist Despec will thus be authorized to distribute Dell print supplies through its distribution network in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. A new financial director for Athena Global Services
France : software specialist Athena Global Services has hired Julien Jean as new administrative and finance director. Julien was previously working for security vendor SafeProtect as finance director.
C2000 ‘disappointed’ as VMware terminates contract
United Kingdom : broadliner Computer 2000 has voiced regret about VMware’s decision to terminate its SME distribution contract and will refocus efforts on alternative vendors including arch rival Microsoft. The agreement was brokered in October 2007 but the distributor admitted that sales had been slower than expected as it needed more time tackle the fragmented SME market, where adoption of virtualisation is in its relative infancy (source : Microscope United Kingdom).
New purchase manager for Devil
Germany : Luis Da Silva, who was purchase manager for PC component and peripheral specialist Devil, has left the company. He is being replaced by Jörg Hasselbach, who remains also commercial director of the company.
