Belgium : resellers demanding software as services offers, broadliner Tech Data has developed for its VAD division Azlan its own offer, named Fusyx, in partnership with several vendors. These solutions are "Communication as a Service" (unified communications and VoIP, in partnership with Microsoft and Cisco), "Desktop as a Service" (managed Windows-desktop, including several business applications), "Workplace as a Service" (desktop and communication) and "Video surveillance as a Service" (with Axis IP cameras). Fusyx offer is targeted towards 25-to-50-employees SMB, but may be extended to larger companies, or to companies which do not wish to invest in IT (source : IT-Reseller Belgique).
Dell in Bahrain with Asbis
Bahrain : already an official distributor for Dell in Middle East, broadliner Asbis has been authorized to distribute the products from the American vendor in Bahrain, through its offices in Dubai.
Micro Application recovers data with Stellar Phoenix
France : software reeditor Micro Application has signed an edition partnership with Indian editor Stellar Information Systems and will republish its Mac and PC data recovery tools in French-speaking countries.
Distributors drop Medion
Germany : broadliners API and Actebis Peacock have decided to freeze their relationship with local vendor Medion. According to local channel press, the vendor is working more and more successfully directly with end users, to the expense of retail channel. Rani El Maddani goes to Italy
Italy : Rani El Maddani, who was sales manager of Enastech in Luxembourg, has closed the office to launch its own company, BlueCell Italy, based near Milano. BlueCell Italy is a semi-distributor and broker, which owns offices in Middle East, in Saudi Arabia and Syria.
Alvis Plus back on direct sales
Russia : specialist Alvis Plus has announced its decision to restart selling IT equipment directly to major and corporate accounts. In the last few years, the company was a trade-only distributor, specialized in telecoms and telephony. Alvis Plus does not plan to do any distribution of IT equipment, which will thus only be sold directly (source : Computer Reseller News Rossiya).
Data Select buys handset supplier
United Kingdom : Handset distributor Data Select has acquired specialist handset supplier Matobmobile for an undisclosed fee. Matobmobile has been operating since 2007 and established itself as an official supplier of handsets to those with sight and hearing impediments, through manufacturers such as Emporia, Doro and Easy Use. The handsets feature oversized buttons, loudspeakers and digital hearing aid compatibility (source : Mobile News United Kingdom).
NTT carries notebooks with D-Lex
Poland : broadliner NTT Systems has signed a distribution partnership with notebook carry cases vendor D-Lex (source : Computer Reseller News Polska).
Another antivirus for Ebertlang
Germany : software specialist Ebertlang has been appointed official distributor by Romanian antivirus vendor BitDefender, and will push its products through its SMB reseller network.
Northamber returns to the Acer fold
United Kingdom : broadliner Northamber has re-engaged with Acer after a near three year hiatus to carry the entire line of business products to SME resellers. This helps to fill the gap in the Surrey-based distributor’s portfolio caused by its split with Lenovo. The contract with Northamber was not renewed at the start of 2007 because the then Acer UK managing director Gianpiero Morbello said the Ts&Cs and targets for the year could not be agreed upon (source : Microscope United Kingdom).
