Merlion gets white

Russia : broadliner Merlion has decided to open its catalog to small white products (vacuum cleaners, kettles, hair dryers or flatirons). It has also formalised its audio/video and mobile phone business, by opening dedicated departments where due management appointments are still to be announced. According to Sergei Raskolov, commercial director of the company, Russian resellers are more and more interested in such products, as 25% of its resellers already sells them. Merlion’s goal is thus to become a one-stop shopping for all the products needed by them. Of course, Merlion’s own retail chains (Citylink and Pozitronika) already sells some of these products. Merlion hopes to capture 6% of this market within 3 years.

India : Lexmark national distributor Cyberstar Infocom has appointed new regional sub-distributors across India to promote Lexmark products lines. Microtronica stores on Tandberg Data

Microtronica, a division of multispecialist Arrow, has signed a distribution agreement for Italy, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom with backup specialist Tandberg Data. Microtronica will sell Tandberg Data’s broad portfolio of tape drives, libraries and autoloaders, disk-based storage solutions and media products.

Prim’X enters Swiss market

Switzerland : French cyphering specialist Prim’X has chosen Xelios Suisse as official distributor. This company is basically a franchise of Sagem Xelios and, thus, the only distributor of Xelios products in the country. This partnership is the first in its kind for Xelios Suisse which seems to expand its portfolio beyond Sagem.
