Gem swoops for Trilogy
United Kingdom : Essex distributor Gem has purchased Trilogy’s IP and assets following the Northampton firm’s fall into administration – saving 40 jobs in the process. As part of the deal, Gem picked up Trilogy’s brands – including Trilogy Logistics and indie label Trilogyi – as well as its main office and distribution facility in Northampton. Trilogy will be kept as a subsidiary. This move comes after Ubisoft had ended its exclusive deal with Trilogy and the the collapse of a proposed deal with The Producers (source : MCV United Kingdom).
20:20 loses its director
Denmark : Martin Stolpe-Thomsens, who was managing director for telephony specialist 20:20 Mobile, has left the company. He will be replaced by Swedish manager Fredric Rudberg, who will manage the 9 Danish employees from Stockholm (source : Computer Reseller News Danmark).
McAfee in force in SaaS
Benelux : McAfee has signed a distribution partnership with young security-as-a-service VAD SaaSForce, covering Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands (source : IT-Reseller Belgique).
Instant Byte distributes TP-Link
Spanish network and telecom VAD Instant Byte has expanded its catalog with TP-Link soho products in Andorra, Portugal and Spain (source : Channel Partner España).
A new distributor for Netasq
Italy : it is without surprise really that, following the bankrupcy of Elettronica Sillaro, French security vendor has signed a new distribution partnership with econnet. Econnet has been recently created by former employees from Elettronica Sillaro, and has taken much of its former vendors in its portfolio.
MMF under the day light
France : photo specialist MMF Pro has added Daylight photo and print control lamps to its catalog.
FVC expands operations in Levant and North Africa
Middle East : network and security VAD FVC has moved its Levant offices to accommodate its expanding operations in the region. The new offices located in Beirut’s eastern suburb Mkalles area reflects the 70%+ growth rate in FVC’s operations in the Levant region (covering Lebanon, Jordan, Syria and North Africa) since its establishment in 2004. The new offices will house a ‘demo’ centre that will not only showcase the latest technologies represented by FVC but will also host all its workshops and Tech Cafes in-house.
Avnet Embedded expands distribution agreement with Cinterion
France : Avnet Embedded has expanded its distribution agreement with wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) communication module vendor Cinterion Wireless Modules. Building upon a successful twelve year partnership with UK-based TDC, now a part of Avnet Embedded, the companies have agreed to distribute the full range of Cinterion modules in France via Axess Technology, now also a part of Avnet Embedded.
Clement Clarke Communications launches new headset partnership with Nimans and Rocom
United Kingdom : Clement Clarke Communications has announced the appointment of both Nimans and Rocom as key distribution partners following the launch of its TC400 series of headsets. Another country for Hotlamps
Videoprojector lamp specialist Hotlamps, a business unit of British Maverick which is a subsidiary of broadliner Tech Data, has opened its eleventh office in Europe, in Portugal. Like in other covered countries, Hotlamps Portugal gives an access to the full Hotlamps offer in UK. Products are delivered from UK central warehouses, and must be ordered separately from other Tech Data products.

DACH : Mac software specialist Application Systems Heidelberg has started to distribute the German version of AMG Soundtracks for iMovie, AMG Make Music and AMG Make Ringtones.
WatchGuard distribution : Triple AcceSSS IT replaces ISAG
Switzerland : a longtime Borderware distributor, security VAD Triple-AcceSSS has been authorized to distribute the whole Watchguard offer. It thus replaces its competitor Internet Security, which will end Watchguard distribution by year’s end (source : Inside Channels Schweiz).
Esprinet renews its supply business
Spain : broadliner Esprinet has unveiled its new supply business unit. Considered as one of its strategic activities, this business unit has been reviewed in partnership with both customers and vendors. Thanks to dedicated online tools, Esprinet has tried to make it easier to find a product among its about 9,000 references and 33 vendors. It has also launched a dedicated delivery service, which is based not on weight but on volume : something more adequate for supplies, according to its marketing director, Fernando Feliu.
Crop and co trains Central Europe purchase managers
Because purchase management become more and more important in Central Europe, French consulting company Crop and Co has created a dedicated training course, provided in Budapest. This course helps manager to train on country-specific tools and techniques : market globalization mecanisms, legal and administrative environments, etc. It last three weeks and helps purchase manager in charge to structure their methods and acquire missing tools to optimize their know-how. They can also exchange and compare their practises with other students.

France : software specialist and reeditor Avanquest has launched a new line of software dedicated to English learning, under Berlitz license.
20:20 Mobile gets recycled
United Kingdom : telephony specialist 20:20 Mobile has launched a new website, phonerecyclebank.com, aimed at taking back old mobile phones from users. Developed in-house by 20:20, this website will provide higher payments for old mobiles by utilising industry partnerships and channels to maximise resale values. Phonerecyclebank will be initially only used on UK market and will be promoted through on and offline channels as well as through partnerships with leading consumer and business to business organisations.
Another try for Packard-Bell
Russia : for the seventh time in two years, Packard-bell is trying to expand its marketshare in Russia, this time with broadliner Fordis as a distributor (ForDis being a distributor Acer, Packard-Bell mother company). Plans are to more than treble its turnover in the country next year, mainly thanks to its notebooks, with a strong advertisement campaign (source : Astera Rossiya).
