Spareparts specialist EET has signed a pan-european distribution partnership with Adapt-Mobile for its line of mobile accessories. These products are immediately available through EET offices in Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

A new platform for Despec

Supply specialist Despec has launched its new online platform, dedicated to its European resellers. This website centralizes several new tools, like a "Supplies Selector" and a "Media Selector", an online tool to label backup medias or even a "Document Library" for marketing needs (datasheets, digital booklets, a list of best selling products, etc.) Some of these tools may be added to reseller’s website upon demand. This new website may be reached through Despec offices in Belgium, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

Computergross secures with Checkpoint

Italy : value-added broadliner Computer Gross has signed a partnership with Check Point Software to distribute its low-end UTM to a target of SMB through its reseller network.

PartServe appointed service partner for Lenovo consumer products

South Africa : spareparts specialist PartServe Channel Support has been appointed as the service partner for Lenovo consumer products in South Africa and will carry a full range of spare parts to support these products. Ukraine : broadliner MTI has signed a distribution partnership with Kye for its line of Genius accessories, cabling and small peripherals.

A new name for IPvista

France : Arrow ECS has decided to change the name of its local business IPvista into Arrow ECS Networks and Security. IPvista France is the last and only independent structure of its kind, as the company has merged its Danish IPvista into Arrow ECS, and integrated its Belgian IPvista BU into Logix Belux.

Actebis distributes YuuWaa

Ingram Micro plans to extend cloud services beyond US

Ingram Micro has built up a range of managed and cloud services in North America over the last two years and they could be on their way to Europe. The broadliner has 15 services sold on a monthly or annuity basis including managed security solutions, remote monitoring and management, storage on demand, and hosted Microsoft Exchange Server & Sharepoint. However, distributor’s role in the new ‘as-a-service’ environment is not entirely clear, according to Alastair Edwards, senior analyst at Canalys, as distributors will need to change their business model beyond the core functions of credit, logistics and availability : “If distributors build hosting and data centre capabilities they could become a repository for third party applications, online storage or compute power, but because many are capital constrained, making that investment will not be easy”, he said (source : Microscope United Kingdom).

More Samsung for ERC

Meru Networks appoints Westcon Group as distributor

United Kingdom : 802.11n enterprise networking vendor Meru Networks has appointed announces network and security VAD Westcon Group as a distributor in the UK. As part of the agreement, Westcon Group’s UK Convergence Business Practice will provide value-added services to complement the Meru technology range by distributing its complete portfolio of products, which includes Access Points, Controllers, System Director OS and its E(z)RF Application Suite. Westcon Group will actively target key verticals within the UK, offering Meru’s products to resellers that specialise in sectors such as education, healthcare, retail, hospitality and logistics. The company has also been granted Authorised Training Partner status, and will provide the full range of Meru training courses to its customers.

Portland takes over Sunstream

Netherlands : network and security VAD Portland Europe has acquired the assets of its competitor Sunstream Software. Like Portland, Sunstream was a GFI distributor, which should help Portland to consolidate its position as leading GFI distributor in the country. Sunstream acquisition gives Portland an access to PHD Technologies distribution. PHD is specialized in virtualization security.
