NTP adopts a Penguin

Germany : consumer electronics specialist NTP has signed a distribution partnership with Belgian lifestyle vendor Kysoh. Kysoh has developed Tux, a computer companion/robot which connects wirelessly to the computer within 15 to 20 meters and tells its owner about the latest info from anywhere around the house. Thanks to a wide range of open-source gadgets, Tux can access and exchange data on Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, RSS, MSN or Skype ; check weather ; broadcast music or even have its own attitudes which can be easily programmed. Kysoh is actively looking for other distributors in whole EMEA region, and other partnerships should be announced in the coming months…

20:20 opens new facility in China

20:20 Mobile has opened a new Far East sourcing and operations facility in Shenzhen, China, to support continued business growth in the European mobile market and allow it to work closely with manufacturers in the region. The new facility will enable the company to work with existing partners as well as source new and innovative mobile products that are being developed in the region. One may object that China seldom is an haven for really innovative products, at least from what can be regularly seen on events like Cebit… Whatever, found products may then be distributed through 20:20 Mobile offices in Denmark, Dubai, France, Ireland, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. The Shenzhen facility will include a new packaging and distribution centre as well as state of the art product testing lines. All products that pass through the facility will be subject to a new three-stage testing and quality assurance process to ensure that only the highest quality products are dispatched to customers in Europe (source : Mobile News United Kingdom).

Trend Micro enters retail with Distram

Italy : antivirus editor Trend Micro has inked a distribution partnership with broadliner Distram. This partnership ought to help the editor enter the retail market, thanks to Distram’s relationships with Italian retailers. Trend Micro products are thus already available through Coop Lombardia (5 hypermarkets), Nova Coop (4 hypermarkets), Finiper (8 hypermarkets) and Comet (30 hypermarkets) (source : Computer Dealer and VAR Italia).

Lucky call for CA

Software editor CA has launched, as part of its "CA Backup Wakeup Call" program, its CA Lucky 7 challenge, aimed at its European backup and restore reseller and distributor network. CA Lucky 7 will reward its resellers who signs most deals (and having an additional rebate from 16% to 25%) and its distributors who increase the sale of "Xtra Value" Packs. Resellers who have registered most deals and/or the biggest deal in CA partner portal will win a direct debit card credited with 1000 euros. Thus, any same reseller can win up to 2000 euros every month. The distributor who will sell the most "Xtra Value" packs will be entitled to a random drawing with a direct debit card credited with 1000 euros to win. This challenge will last until next March and covers all CA resellers and distributors in Europe.
