Intel goes east with Avnet
Intel has extended its distribution partnership with Avnet. This multispecialist is allowed to distribute Intel PC components, servers products, SSD and networking line in Central and Eastern Europe, including former Yugoslavia (Bosnia, Croatia, FYROM, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia) through its Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Romanian offices and Slovak.
Egyptian appointments signal Iomega channel push
Egypt : storage vendor Iomega has signed two in-country distributors in Egypt as part of plans to round out its coverage of the Middle East region. The appointment of Delta (which we could not find information about) and VAS comes less than a year after senior executives at the company revealed they were exploring local distribution partnerships in some of the region’s larger markets to drive up demand, especially around NAS products (source : ITP Middle East).
A new owner for Simpex IT
Switzerland : networking specialist Simpex IT has been taken over by its supplier Assmann, which is known for its Digitus networking brand. Until last January, Simpex IT was a division of electronic component specialist Simpex Electronics, which was created by cabling vendor Reichle & De Massari. All current team is kept, and will help Assmann improve its positions in the country.

United Kingdom : new game specialist Tradewest Games has signed a deal with Austrian IP holder JoWooD to handle sales for the firm’s games in the UK.
