Synerway back at Tekdata
2010-11-25 United Kingdom : security and storage VAD Tekdata Distribution has welcomed back Synerway backup appliances. The company was to work a first time with French backup appliance vendor Synerway at the beginning of 2006 and stopped in its tracks as its main vendor, SonicWALL, launched at the same moment a similar product. Time has since passed, and Tekdata has chosen to work again with Synerway because of the superior features of its backup appliance, which is able, among other, to backup heterogenous environments or rely on external RDX tape drives for a high data volume. Synerway plans to continue to expand in Europe and is watching carefully other markets for 2011 or 2012, including Germany. Currently and beside the United Kingdom, the company is mainly present in France, Switzerland and French-speaking Africa.
Netasq bets on virtualization to enter new markets
2010-09-24
With 30% of its business out of its home country, France, UTM vendor Netasq still has room to grow. The company is currently mainly present in Western Europe, Middle East and India. It is working with Magirus as a pan-European distributor and other, more localized distributors like Cris Réseaux (France and French-speaking Switzerland), Sysob (Austria, Germany and German-speaking Switzerland), ConFIG (Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia), iAxcess (Middle East), Audema (Portugal, Spain and South America) or Azlan as a trial in Benelux to name a few. But Netasq is now betting on virtualization to grow on new markets : "firstly, as virtualized servers are only software, it is easier to introduce new functionalities", explains Xavier Lefaucheux, regional director for South and Western Europe for Netasq. And, more importantly, Netasq plans to leverage on its virtual appliances to work with distributors specialized in virtualization : "they will all have to take an interest in security and, currently, just a few do it”, thinks Lefaucheux who is confident in the success of its strategy even if he does not reveal any of his goals : "European vendors, which are not many, are considered very positively, as a strong alternative to classic, American vendors".
