Another country for Microsoft's VAD program
2012-05-04 India : Microsoft has appointed multispecialist Avnet Technology Solutions and broadliner Redington as its local VADs in a move to cater to the partners and customers in the SMB space. Under this tie-up, Avnet will provide Microsoft's virtualization, management and security solutions to VARs, while Redington will focus on unified communications, security and cloud services.
Redington gets virtual with VMware
2012-04-23 India : virtualization specialist VMware has signed on broadliner Redington as its national distributor for its entire product portfolio. Redington joins Avnet and Ingram Micro who are already distributing VMware products in the country.
Avnet promotes corporate officers
2011-12-22 United States : multispecialist Avnet has unveiled two corporate officer promotions. Steve Phillips, CIO, has been promoted to a corporate officer position of senior vice president for Avnet, Inc. from vice president. In addition, Graeme Watt, president of Avnet Technology Solutions EMEA, was elected as a new corporate vice president for Avnet, Inc.
Avnet to increase offices, expand distribution
2011-12-12 India : multispecialist Avnet India is all set to ramp up its business. On the cards is an expansion of its distribution portfolio and an increase in branch offices to grow its market coverage. The company plans to increase its branch presence from the existing seven locations to 15, most of these being tier-2 cities like Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Kochi, Nashik or Surat. The distributor is planning to take an applications-led route to tier-2 cities, and has launched its ISV Accelerator program to align with local application vendors. The company also plans to offer its virtualization partner program, VirtualPath, to these tier-2 locations. Avnet has also launched its CloudReady program aimed at equipping partners to provide private, hybrid and public cloud solutions (source : CRN India).

2011-10-05 India : multispecialist Avnet Technology Solutions has launched its CloudReady Program in the country. CloudReady is intended to prepare and enable channel partners to capitalize on emerging cloud computing growth opportunities. "Although cloud computing is still a relatively recent phenomenon in the country, we wanted to build our capabilities and resources early on to serve this rapidly evolving cloud computing market. The Avnet CloudReady team will educate our channel partners on market dynamics, enhance their cloud computing capabilities and help them create strategies to capture opportunities", said Naresh Desai, general manager, Avnet Technology Solutions.
