Stordis becomes vendor
2012-05-23
Even if still a distributor, German high performance computing VAD Stordis has decided to grow a vendor business, by developing its own storage system, named StorDFS. StorDFS is built up on a parallel file system (based on Frauhofer FHGFS technology) and any storage hardware, up to 1.8 Pb in a 42U rack. Its distributed metadata management system eliminates points of failure that may arise in the cluster or any parallel file systems. It supports several storage protocols, including as 10Gbps Ethernet, Fibre Channel, Infiniband and SAS. According to the VAD, this system is both highly performant and easy to use. StorDFS is available in Europe through Stordis offices in France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
More high-speed switches for Stordis
2012-04-13
High-performance computing VAD Stordis has been selected by network start-up Gnodal to distribute its scalable, ultra-low latency 10/40 Gigabit Ethernet switching solutions in all the countries it covers in Europe (that is Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom) through its offices in France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Stordis attacks Google
2012-03-01
German HPC VAD Stordis, which owns offices in France and the United Kingdom, has unveiled on French channel event IT Partners an European exclusive distribution partnership of PerfectSearch Powered by Fujitsu. This appliance is a direct competitor for Google Search appliances. It is based on NuVola private cloud solution from Fujitsu and allows users to find any type of document (picture, sound, video, etc.) anywhere in the corporate information system, whether the file is local or on a distant device (notebook or tablet), the same way they would search on the Internet. Compared to Google appliances, the PerfectSearch appliance is much smaller and more powerful: ten times faster than a Google appliance, it embeds only one hard drive where a billion files can be indexed… More directly useful to the daily needs of most corporations, this appliance could very well become the workhorse of Stordis on the European market, far beyond its traditional products which target highly specialized needs.
Stordis hires a sales director
2012-01-19 France : German high-performance computing specialist Stordis has appointed Fabrice Endlicher as sales director for its newly-created French office. Beside France, Fabrice will take in charge the entire region consisting of Benelux, Greece, Italy, Maghreb (Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco), Portugal and Spain.
Stordis expands in Europe
2011-12-08
German high-performance network and storage VAD Stordis has opened its first subsidiaries in France and the United Kingdom in a bid to serve more efficiently its local clients. Until now, both these countries were served from its German offices. Stordis has hired Andrew Jones, the former Gateway server sales director, as its UK and Ireland director. The company has also made no secret that it did not plan any partnership with Acer when it would relaunch its servers, next year, because of a bad experience this year. It should thus unveil a partnership with a new server vendor in the coming weeks. Beside this, the company has signed a new distribution agreement with Emulex. The distributor is targeting all demand for high-performance kit in virtualisation installations anywhere in the EMEA region.
