Rectron appointed Canon distributor
2012-02-13
South African broadliner Rectron has been appointed an authorised distributor of Canon products for the southern African region. The appointment allow Rectron to distribute Canon's full range of consumer imaging products, selected business solutions products and variety of large-format printers.
Brain drain at Rectron
2011-11-10 South Africa : following their boss Mark Lu, Cheslynne Britz, Werner Kuhn, Stewart Diss and Andre Liebenberg have resigned from broadliner Rectron to join fellow distributor Corex, which Mark Lu acquired earlier this year. Werner becomes general manager in charge of B2C sales. Stewart and Andre head the regional offices of Corex in Durban and Cape Town. Finally, Mark Lu is replaced by Lindi Shortt as CEO of Rectron.
Rectron seals deal for AOpen digital signage
2011-06-17 Computex : looking to offer resellers an alternative revenue stream, broadliner Rectron has signed a distribution agreement for AOpen's range of digital signage. The products, which include mounting solutions, classic, 3D and touch displays, welcome boards, software, accessories, videowalls and digital engines, will be formally launched in the country in August. The distributor will roll out, over the coming months, a dedicated business-to-business team nationwide to ensure the channel is fully supported in this sphere of business. At present, AOpen's digital signage is also distributed in the country by Mustek (source : IT Online South Africa).
Rectron reshuffles management team
2011-03-30 South Africa : broadliner Rectron has reshuffled its management team and has appointed the local distribution channel's first woman MD. Cheslynne Britz, who effectively ran the company in conjunction with Dean Prinsloo while its CEO Mark Lu was on secondment to Gigabyte in Taiwan, is Rectron's new MD. Prinsloo, it is believed, will be leaving the distributor (source : IT Online South Africa).
Mustek’s Rectron sells Corex stake
2011-02-18 South Africa : Mustek's wholly owned subsidiary Rectron has sold its 60% stake in Corex IT Distribution Dynamics for €1m. The disposal is part of Mustek's drive to reduce debt by disposing of noncore assets. The shares were sold to Fred Lu, a director of Corex IT. Mustek is in discussions with a consortium, led by its CEO, David Kan, and Trinitas Private Equity Fund, to buy out the minority shareholders of Mustek and delist the company. The deal is valued at R605m.
