i-Com launches a distributor-dedicated e-commerce portal
2009-07-29
Taking advantage of its experience in distribution and collaboration with IT distributors, French editor I-COM Software has just launched its latest Distri-Portal. This distributor-oriented e-commerce portal integrates, beside other modules, new functionalities specific to distributors' business, such as destocking management, resellers' outstanding management or even an optimized engine for resellers price rules. Through a connector library, Distri-Portal can be easily interfaced with distributors’ ERP. I-COM Software already works with major distributors in Western Europe, such as SQP, Conectis or Copymix in France, or Sharptext in Ireland and Micro Peripherals in the United Kingdom.

Sharptext switches distribution focus
2009-06-15
Ireland : broadliner Sharptext has signalled a sharp switch of focus to value-added distribution, with plans to concentrate on about 10 key vendors and to shift fulfilment of volume products to its website. According to MD Paul White, the firm had spent 18 months reorganising the business to consolidate around lines of business that gave the best return for capital resources. White said the distributor had around 10 key vendors, including IBM, Cisco, Toshiba, Microsoft, Lenovo, 3Com and Sharp. It has also recently signed a deal with Acer to build up the brand in the business, corporate and reseller communities. Sharptext has vastly increased the volume lines available through its website by funnelling products from sister companies in Europe, such as Micro P and Gem in the UK (source : TechCentral Eire).

C2000 to serve Irish HP business
2009-03-17
Ireland : HP has appointed Computer 2000 as a distributor in Ireland in a move which will result in nearly all of the vendor's product being supplied into the Irish market from UK warehouses. Computer 2000 is replacing indigenous Irish distributor Sharptext, which is ending its contract with the vendor on 1 May. C2000's appointment means that nearly all HP distribution to Ireland will be serviced by warehouses in the UK. The vendor's other broadline distributor, Clarity, which is owned by Westcoast, has just announced plans to move most of its warehousing to its parent's facilities in Reading and Milton Keynes. Distribution of HP's enterprise products into Ireland is handled by Bell Micro (source : Microscope United Kingdom).
