Westcon Group names Dolph Westerbos new CEO
VAD Westcon Group has named industry veteran Dolph Westerbos as the company's new Chief Executive Officer. With more than 20 years of B2B services and channel leadership experience at companies ranging from Dell to Brambles and ModusLink, Westerbos succeeds Dean Douglas, who will be leaving to become CEO of telecom vendor Unify (formerly known as Siemens Enterprise Communications). Westerbos comes to Westcon Group from Brambles and CHEP, where he served as Group President of Asia Pacific and EMEA for the supply chain and pooling solutions provider. As Westcon's newest executive, Westerbos will build upon the company's leadership in value-added distribution – with more than €3 billion in revenue and presence in 60 countries across six continents.
New appointments for GTDC
The Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC) has appointed Westcon President and CEO Dean Douglas as vice chairman of the GTDC and Esprinet CEO Alessandro Cattani as a new executive committee member. Douglas and Cattani will help lead the strategic direction of the GTDC – an association of the world's biggest technology distributors, which annually generate more than €99 billion in worldwide product and services revenue.
Jens Montanana appointed Chairman of Westcon Group
Westcon Group, a global VAD in unified communications, network infrastructure, data center, and security solutions, has appointed Jens Montanana as its new Chairman. Jens is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Westcon's parent, London and Johannesburg- listed Datatec Limited - which he developed into a global ICT solutions and services leader with more than 6,500 employees worldwide. During his tenure at Datatec, Westcon has become one of the market's leading specialty distributors in the channel, with revenues of approximately €3 billion. Jens replaces John McCartney, who will remain a Non-Executive Director of Westcon.
Westcon Group names Chris Ranger VP EMEA Services
Network, security and telecom VAD Westcon Group has named Chris Ranger Vice President of Services for EMEA. The appointment underscores a heightened commitment to delivering consistent, premier value-added services across the company's lines of business – including its Cisco-dedicated business unit, Comstor. Ranger brings to Westcon more than 25 years of experience in executive service leadership across a range of high technology industries. Formerly with Intermec Technologies, he led transformation of the company's services business from an in-house repair operation to successful outsourced model. He was directly responsible for building Intermec's profitable services business in EMEA with a core focus on partner strategies and consistency. In his new role, Ranger is responsible for services across the unified communications, network infrastructure and security business practices. He is tasked with formalizing the company's services model and execution – including training, post-sales support and technical audit services. Westcon offers a full range services – from global procurement to executive selling - helping partners streamline business and build new revenue streams. The company's Global Procurement Services (GPS) manages the complex aspects of international warehousing, shipping, import/export and integration. An industry first, Westcon's Executive Relevance Selling (ERS) is a strategic marketing and sales enablement program designed to create qualified Cisco proposals at the executive level. These services - along with smart logistics capabilities and reverse logistics offerings - are designed to augment, not compete, with the capabilities of Westcon partners.
Gateprotect chooses Comztek
The German IT security specialist gateprotect is continuing the strategic enhancement of its international network of partners with the appointment of South African network and security VAD Comztek in the African region. The agreement addresses the African growth regions and is another step for gateprotect's expansion of its sales network and alignment with top distributors, thanks to the extensive coverage of the region by Comztek and its local subsidiaries (Kenya, Mauritius, Namibia and Zambia).
