Symantec sharpens UK distribution axe
2009-12-24 United Kingdom : Symantec and CMS Peripherals are believed to be parting company in the UK following a distribution review. The security and storage giant indicated it would chop one distributor from its line up in June, to make way for new appointment SCH Distribution (SCHd). Symantec has confirmed that a decision has now been made and that the distributor in question has been notified. It is several weeks off making a formal announcement. Some channel sources have claimed storage specialist CMS Peripherals could be the one to go, although both Symantec and CMS declined to comment (source : Computer Reseller News United Kingdom).
SCH Distribution buys IQ Sys
2009-08-31 United Kingdom : SCH Distribution (SCHd), which also owns in the country distributors ETC, Interchange Distribution and Interface Solutions International, has continued on the acquisition path by snapping up IQ Sys, in a move it claims will give it a 60 per cent share of the UK Citrix market, as SCHd already is a Citrix distributor through ETC and Interchange. Paul Eccleston, SCH Group director responsible for distribution, stressed that SCHd would retain and build on the IQ Sys brand and that all 30 staff would keep their jobs (source : Computer Reseller News United Kingdom).
Symantec adds SCH Distribution amid distie review
2009-07-28 United Kingdom : Symantec is reviewing its distribution line up and plans to drop one partner after it has welcomed on board SCH Distribution next month. Currently, DNS Arrow, Bell Microproducts, CMS Peripherals and Avnet Technology Solutions distribute the Symantec enterprise portfolio, while Ingram Micro and Computer 2000 carry volume products including Back-up Exec and N Point. Jason Ellis, EMEA channel vice president at the vendor, confirmed SCHd had been appointed and will start selling from early July but added it was also in the process of evaluating existing distributors. Paul Eccleston, group director for distribution at SCHd, said the contract permitted its three brands ETC, ISI and Interchange to sell the products (source : Microscope United Kingdom).
