Atomblock becomes ALSO Digital

Netherlands: following the authorization of the Dutch antitrust board, German broadliner ALSO has acquired 51% of the shares of Micromedia-owned ESD specialist Atomblock, which in the process and as planned becomes ALSO Digital. Rowdy ten Hove, interviewed on Distree, explained us that "retail specialist Micromedia will supervise the business of ALSO Digital in the Benelux, while ALSO will focus remaining Europe", focusing more especially on the countries where ALSO is already present (Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland).

Just a few days after the acquisition of download specialist Atomblock, German broadliner ALSO has opened negociations to acquire the Dutch group Saphin. This company owns the supply specialist Alpha International (which is present in France (now mainly a post address), Germany, the Netherlands (which effectively covers the French market) and the United Kingdom), 50% of the shares of a Dutch MPS provider named OSN (which will certainly be converted into the local ALSO MPS), the Dutch IT reseller Scholter Awalters and 60% of the shares of a plastic distributor named Coops Kunststoffen. No doubt the company was mainly chosen for Alpha International and OSN, which would allow ALSO to become the biggest distributor on the Dutch market.
ALSO gets into digital distribution with Atomblock

German broadline distribution group ALSO has decided to venture in the electronic software distribution through the acquisition of 51% of the shares of young specialist Atomblock for an undisclosed amount. Atomblock will be renamed ALSO Digital and will keep its current team. The infrastructure of Atomblock will be used in the future by its local offices in Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland to distribute electronic versions of major software through their local reseller networks.
Huawei signs with ALSO Actebis
