Tech Data Europe set out its strategy for leading the way in channel cloud development to key vendors, service providers, resellers and managed services provider partners from all over the continent at its European Cloud Summit in Barcelona last week.
Around 200 delegates heard John Tonnison, Tech Data's Executive Vice President Cloud Computing and Worldwide Chief Information Officer, deliver the opening plenary alongside Reza Honarmand, Vice President Software and Cloud Europe, who explained how Tech Data is enabling partners to access, power and master cloud services and solutions.
There was also a keynote presentation on partner business transformation by David Ednie, President and CIO, SalesChannel Europe and a renowned authority on the cloud services market. Attendees then attended a series of breakout sessions hosted by Microsoft, IBM, Cisco and HP, as well as Tech Data.
Feedback from the event was extremely positive. Tech Data provides access to a comprehensive portfolio of best-of-breed IaaS, PaaS and SaaS services. Through its StreamOne cloud aggregation portal, services from IBM SoftLayer, Microsoft Azure, VMware vCloud Air, IBM, AirVM, and HP are available. Resellers are able to access, test and provision services for customers and subsequently manage customer usage and provide consolidated monthly billing for both partners and customers. Cloud services can simply be re-sold, made available within the partner's own website or offered as part of fully independent cloud services platform.
Honarmand added that Tech Data was extremely grateful to all its vendor, service provider, reseller and MSP partners and associates who attended and contributed to the Cloud Summit event. The company is already considering plans for a similar event next year and will be making details of its plans available to partners in due course.
United States: broadliner Tech Data has entered into an agreement to acquire certain assets of Signature Technology Group, a provider of data center and professional services throughout North America. STG's services will be offered through Tech Data's Advanced Infrastructure Solutions (AIS) division, the company's data center business in the Americas. STG's data center services enable solution providers across all verticals to maximize their clients' technology investments, strategically improve service levels, reduce risk, and contain costs. STG offers partner-led IT professional services that deploy technology physically and virtually, cloud assessments and migrations, and technical staffing to ensure that IT departments have skilled resources and coverage. The STG team holds certifications across 23 original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and its technicians, deployed in customers' IT environments, support over 300,000 devices throughout North America. Founded in Phoenix, Ariz. in 1990, STG was named to the Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies List in 2014, the CRN Fast Growth 150 in 2013, and the CRN Fast Growth 100 in 2012. Charles Layne, president and chief executive officer at STG, along with the entire STG team, will join Tech Data. He will assume the role of president, Signature Technology Group at Tech Data and report directly to Bartlett in the company's AIS division.
LATAM: American broadliner Tech Data has completed the sale of its business operations in Chile and Peru to its nemesis Ingram Micro. The distributor also plans to exit its operations in Uruguay. These steps will enable Tech Data to focus its investment and development efforts on expanding its Latin America export business in Miami and its operations in Mexico, a larger and more developed IT market. The distributor recently appointed industry veteran Eduardo Coronado as managing director, Tech Data Mexico. In this role, Coronado leads the strategic direction of the Company's sales and operations efforts in Mexico.
Tech Data Europe has launched an enhanced version of InTouch, its web-based e-commerce solution, including an improved search function and navigation that allows users to find and purchase products with fewer clicks than before. InTouch gives customers fingertip access to Tech Data Europe's complete product catalogue, enabling resellers to track their order history and invoices, and make after-sales enquiries. The enhanced version features improved navigation with clear product categories, so users can immediately select the type of product they need using intuitive tools for screen-sizing and pricing, as well as one-click selection of required features. The presentation of search results has been made leaner and simpler, making visual comparisons and refinement of the search easier. Information needed is visible on one screen so there is no need for additional scrolling. A new website for Hotlamps
Hotlamps, the video-projector lamp BU of TD Maverick, which has offices in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom, has launched a new website which includes a Lamp Finder. The Lamp Finder allows the resellers to easily find alternatives to branded lamps, with more margin and return on investment for end customers.
