Steljes gets out of UK
2011-02-16
British AV VAD Steljes has unveiled on ISE its European strategy. After one year of observation and initial work through a distribution partnership with electric power distribution vendor Mainline Power, the distributor has opened an European sales office in Cologne, from which it plans to cover Germany Benelux and Northern France. It already has about 10 people dedicated to these countries in its UK office and is building up a local team. Very value-bound, Steljes has decided to work with a German service provider, who will take in charge pre-sales and post-sales services (warranties, installation, training, etc.). "it is because our offices and our partner are based in Germany that we have chosen to cover only the northern part of France : for evident reasons, it is the only way to insure a correct level of service quality to French resellers", explained Malcom Stewart, EMEA development manager for Steljes, to ITdistri.
Beside Mainline Power, Steljes plans to leverage on unseen vendors to differentiate itself from local competitors. It will thus push Aqualite waterproof screens on digital signage market, touchscreen solutions from NextWindow or MediaCast video-on-Internet products from Inventive Technology. The company has also unveiled a mobile broadband solution consisting of a bundle of a MediaTile wireless digital signage product, Steljes SMP2 mediaplayer and mobile broadband airtime from Vodafone. About the latter, it remains to be seen if a specific version for French market (where Vodafone is absent) is planned, maybe with SFR.
Steljes plans in Germany are not the first in the Euro zone, as the company is active on Irish market since a few years, and has even officialized in presence by registering a local structure in Dublin in November, with 6 dedicated employees. Like most privately-owned British companies, Steljes does not communicate any plans for its European office.
