Also-Actebis to grow in VAD business

Germany : in order to grow and consolidate its VAD business, broadliner Also-Actebis has unveiled plans to acquire distributors in this area. The company also may reenter foreign markets like the United Kingdom, which it left a few years ago, through other acquisitions, to consolidate its third place in European distribution.

Uwe Neumeier to leave Actebis

Uwe Neumeier has chosen to leave the company for personal reasons. He has been Managing Director of broadliner Actebis Peacock in Germany and Actebis Computerhandelsgesellschaft in Austria since 2009 and was responsible for integrating Osnabrück-based telephony specialist NT Plus into Actebis Group. This departure is seemingly unexpected by the group, and no details have been unveiled about who will take over is duties.

Actebis-Also merge confirmed

After a few weeks of delay, the merge of broadliners Also and Actebis is confirmed. The new company, which will be name Also-Actebis, will be headquartered in Magenswill in Switzerland. With a turnover of about €8b, it will be the third main IT distributor in Europe, behind American Ingram Micro and Tech Data. The former shareholders of Actebis will own 53% of the new company, while their Also counterparts will own the remaining 47%. The executive committee of the new company will include Thomas Weissmann (President), Walter Droege (Vice-President), Klaus Hellmich (CEO), Dr. Ralf Retzko (CFO), Dr. Gustavo Möller-Hergt (Chief Integration Officer), Marc Schnyder (manager for Switzerland), Michael Dressen (manager for Germany and Austria), Laisvunas Butkus (manager for Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania), Maija Strandberg (manager for Finland), Torben Qvist (manager for Denmark, Norway and Sweden) and Ivan Renaudin (manager for France and the Netherlands). It is yet to be explained how the company plans to manage the merge of its activities in Germany, where both Also and Actebis are present, as well as in Norway, where Also is much stronger than Actebis.

David Grant appointed to Senior Vice President Europe, Westcon Group

Networking, convergence, security and mobility VAD Westcon has been promoted David Grant to senior vice president, Europe. He will continue reporting directly to Westcon Group President and CEO, Dean Douglas. In his new role, Grant will have primary responsibility for the continued growth Westcon Group's European business, including its European strategy, human resources and legal organizations, supporting the expansion strategy in the Nordics, the Baltics and Southern Europe of the company. David Grant has been with Westcon Convergence for three years and was previously CEO of European distributor Crane before its acquisition by Westcon Group in 2007. Prior to his role at Crane, Grant spent 14 years in a variety of senior level positions with Canon UK Ltd.
