CA bets on distribution
2009-11-11 After having for a long time worked on mainframe market, CA has decided to drag massive investment in distribution. According to Beatriz Cabrera, CA EMEA channel sales director (pictured right), mainframe software market is indeed stagnating, while distribution market is currently growing by 8%, which explains this renewed attention from CA towards this market.
The company has thus entirely reviewed its distribution strategy in Europe. Volume market (backup and disaster recovery tools, DBMS modelization and Internet security) will be addressed through distributors, while value market will be addressed directly through selected VAR and system integrators. All resellers, whether value or volume, will have an access to CA products through a new partner program, which has 4 levels and is backed with a dedicated partner portal :
Platinum (turnover on CA products over $1m),
Gold (turnover on CA products over $200k),
Silver (turnover over CA products over $25k),
other being simple Transactional partners
Value partnership is limited to Platinum and Gold.
Beside this new partner program, which is being deployed over whole EMEA region, CA is preparing several actions to grow its volume business, through its distributors : an online tool which helps resellers trace end-users' update needs, special marketing operations as well as special rebates on major projects registered in partner portal. For example, resellers can get up to 37% additional rebate for cross-upgrades from competitors' solutions through an operation recently launched in France and backed by its local distributors, VAD D2B and broadliner Ingram Micro, named "CA Backup Wake Up Call" and dedicated to CA ARCserve Backup. Other operations will follow in most countries, depending on local CA needs and targets.
