Despec closes its doors
2012-01-02 France : as expected since a few months, supply specialist Despec has closed its doors. Its managing director, Carole Halnaut, has joined the team of its (former) competitor, UFP International, as commercial director. She joins there Reza Etemad, the former director of Despec in the Netherlands, now B2B manager. French account management has been transfered to the Belgian office of the distributor. The whereabouts of the other employees are yet unknown but they should, for most of them, reemerge in the team of other print vendor or distributors.
Two new distributors for Patriot
2011-03-09 France : print supply specialist UFP International and memory and storage specialist CDE have been appointed official distributors by Patriot for its lines of memory extensions and related products.
UFP gets into accessories
2010-01-05 Spain : historically specialized in print supplies, UFP is trying to extend its reach to PC accessories and small peripherals by signing a distribution partnership with local vendor Unykach. Such a move was done by UFP's French home office a few years ago, with a limited success which brought it back to its core business (source : Channel Insider España).
A new owner for Adimpo
2009-08-05 Spain : supply specialist Adimpo has been acquired by its local competitor Unipapel for €45.5m. The new company, which will weight more than €828m (207,2 for Unipapel and 621,3 for Adimpo), claims to be the new EMEA leader in supply distribution (present in Andorra, France, Germany, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom) in front of French UFP International (present in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom), which announced a turnover of €776m in 2007 but claims to reach €1b in 2009, which remains to be confirmed.
