Midwich crosses the Channel

France : AV specialist broadliner Midwich has finally made its way out of the UK, by acquiring some assets of French professional video specialist Sidev. Despite goods results in the last years, Sidev was meeting difficulties because its mother company, service provider Soft Audiovisuel, was in administration since one year because of cash-flow difficulties. Last year and despite administrative slownesses and insufficient stocks because of receivership and inherent lack of credit, Sidev reached a €9m turnover.

Midwich expects much of this acquisition, as French education market is still under-equiped in projectors and interactive whiteboards : Sidev would thus become a growth relay to a British market to be riddled with investment cuts. Sidev will continue to be managed by its current director, Marc Piegay. ITdistri understands that Tech Data, through its AV business Maverick, was in the ranks for the acquisition of Sidev, which was looking for a buyer since at least 3 or 4 months.

Thanks to the sale of Sidev (and previously of Soft Broadcast), Soft Audiovisuel is out of receivership and will now focus on its core businesses : site management, museography, digital signage, video and audio conferencing and multimedia broadcast.

Sidev gets exclusive with Xantech
