ThinkGrid and Ingram Micro in partnership
2012-02-08 United Kingdom : ThinkGrid, a cloud enablement platform vendor, has signed a deal with the value division of broadliner Ingram Micro. The distributor is allowed to offer ThinkGrid's platform and complete array of cloud-based IT services. This joint go-to-market is an essential part of Ingram Micro's drive to become the leading aggregator of cloud services to the channel and will expand ThinkGrid's global reach, as a provider of channel cloud services enablement. The ThinkGrid partnership supports Ingram Micro's focus on cloud computing technology, following the launch of its Ingram Micro Cloud programme, which offers channel partners enhanced business, sales and technical knowledge for selling and supporting cloud services.
Ingram Micro names Alain Monié CEO
2012-01-30
Broadliner Ingram Micro has promoted Alain Monié to CEO. Monié, who will also retain his current title of president, succeeds Gregory Spierkel, who will remain at the company until April 15, 2012, to assist in the management transition. Monié, a 61yo French national, is currently the company's president and COO. He joined Ingram Micro as executive vice president in January 2003 and was appointed president of the APAC region a year later. He was promoted to president and COO of the corporation in August 2007 and resigned three years later to become chief executive officer of April Management, a Singapore-based pulp and paper industry giant. On Nov. 1, 2011, Monié returned to Ingram Micro in his current role, re-assuming his prior responsibilities : a nearly flawless engagement for someone who was groomed to be Spierkel's successor. Before Ingram Micro, Monié was the head of LATAM operations at Honeywell International and APAC operations at Allied Signal, where he led the company's expansion into China and India. Monié has been a member of the board of directors of Amazon since November 2008, and was recently elected to the board of Ingram Micro in November 2011.
Ingram gets into digital signage
2012-01-03
Broadliner Ingram Micro has quietly expanded its AV business in France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom with dedicated digital signage team and offer. According to the distributor, the digital signage has become significant enough to justify an increased offer and investments in pre and post-sales. Although this business does not seem to bear a dedicated name (unlike TD Maverick for Tech Data), Ingram Micro plans to deliver a full-fledged hardware, software and service offer, including installation and management digital signage hardware, software development, content creation, support and consultancy.
