Midwich acquires Harris & Russell name and assets
2012-01-27
United Kingdom : AV broadliner Midwich had acquired the goodwill, trade names and customer list of Harris & Russell Ltd (H&R) for an undisclosed sum. H&R, which was founded in 1924, is a three generation family business. It evolved from its stocks and service origin supplying wireless sets, condensers, and valves into a distributor of branded consumer electronics products to the independent retail and institutional sectors nationwide. A slowdown in demand during the recent recession led to a significant reduction in market share. In the circumstances, the company decided to close down and has disposed of its remaining assets to Midwich. Customers logging on to the Harris & Russell website will shortly see details of the MidwichHome contacts and a link through to the Midwich webpage from where they can find details of its products and contacts. MidwichHome division was created last year to address more specifically the independant retail market. Account queries in respect of the former Harris & Russell business should continue to be directed to that company, although Midwich Home staff will try to help with the continued supply products, on-going product queries and returns matters.

Midwich improves logistics with new central warehouse
2012-01-04
United Kingdom : AV broadliner Midwich has completed a virtually seamless move to a new warehouse in Minworth near Birmingham. The movement of stock began in October and was completed at the beginning of December. With a huge amount of stock to transfer from two other warehouses in the West Midlands, the potential for error was considerable, particularly as Midwich’s ordering system runs constantly. Through careful planning and intense organisation, order processing and delivery were not compromised by the move.
