Emitac builds a Value Add BU

Middle East : broadliner Emitac Distribution has hired Carlos Tannous as head of its newly created Value Add Division. Carlos, who was previously working as Value Add BU manager for broadliner Aptec Distribution, brings obviously with him a wealth of industry experience. Carlos plans to develop Emitac Distribution's servers, storage and networking unit into a full-fledged Value Add Distribution Division. He plans to hire new skilled resources which will enable Emitac Distribution to offer pre-sales and post-sales support for complete end to end solutions distribution to its Middle East technology resellers'.

Spain gets its cloud distributor

Spain : the small family of cloud distributors in the EMEA region has a new member : AvantaaS has recently opened its doors in Madrid. The company offers several cloud services including virtual desktop and applications as a service, IaaS, virtual datacenters or collaboration tools. Among the shareholders of AvantaaS, we can find Pedro Galatas, who is better known as the president of network and security VAD Afina Sistemas, and Pedro Tortosa, the CEO of system integrator Ermestel. Currently, the only identified partner is VirtualSharp, a cloud disaster recovery provider. VirtualSharp is currently making a strong push in the EMEA region, with several partnerships signed in multiple countries : Aptec in the Middle East, Systematika in Italy and Altimate in Belgium and Luxembourg.

Aptec launches its ALS Technology Logistics Services subsidiary

Middle East : a few months after Ingram Micro in Western Europe, broadliner Aptec has launched its Technology Logistics Services. The group's Newly Established Subsidiary is a fully licensed and authorized third party logistics business, approved by both the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai and the Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (JAFZA). The company will operate under the name of Advanced Logistics Services LLC and through its network of six owned and leased warehousing and support facilities in United Arab Emirates (Dubai), Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt and Lebanon. ALS is targeting IT companies entering the region or improving its local footprint and services. ALS' services and solutions will cover contract logistics, domestic transportation, supply chain solutions, supply chain management & consultancy, custom brokerage & clearance services, IT assembly and reverse logistics (RMA & Service).

Veeam comes to Aptec

Middle East : Veeam Software, a provider of VMware data protection, disaster recovery and VMware management solutions for virtual datacenter environments, was exhibiting for the first time at the Gitex Technology Week on the stand of broadliner Aptec.

Aptec attains Microsoft Cloud Distributor status

Middle East : broadliner Aptec has received Microsoft Cloud Distributor status, the first of this kind to be given to any Microsoft distributor in the region. With this agreement, Aptec will be focusing on distribution of the latest cloud technology product of Microsoft - Microsoft Office 365. The distribution agreement is currently covering Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE, to be followed by other GCC countries and Egypt in the nearest future. With its new Cloud Distribution status Aptec is expected to concentrate on recruitment and enablement of channel resellers along with offering them the complete services expertise.
