Track gets Cisco regional distribution status
2011-03-09
Middle East : broadliner Track Distribution has been granted the Regional Distribution Status by Cisco. The Regional Distribution Status now allows track the capabilities to scale up operations in adjacent regional markets apart from the one they currently cover, helping Track carry their Cisco Initiatives across bigger geography. To support this partnership, Track Distribution has decided to open sales offices in Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Morocco and Yemen to reach out to bigger market segments and more partners. The Saudi operation of Track was also launched to promote Cisco geographically in key SA cities and surrounding areas in both eastern and western regions of the Kingdom. The distributor has also launched its ATKUT operation after signing up with Cisco to cover Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Kirgizstan, with Baku its first office in the region.

Empa makes move on enterprise channel
2010-08-27
MEA : broadliner Empa has revealed ambitious plans to crack the enterprise space in a move that it admits is bringing about a "cultural change" within its organisation. Although Empa's heritage lies in components distribution, the company has just formed a dedicated Enterprise Solutions business unit that will largely focus on the SMB market. So far it has signed partnerships with antivirus software provider ESET, Sweden-based anti-spyware specialist Lavasoft and Citrix-ready web filtering appliance vendor St. Bernard Software. It will also focus on the systems and storage portfolio of Fujitsu Technology Solutions, which it already has a relationship with. Empa says the scope of the unit will extend to software, security, storage, systems and networking solutions. The unit is being led by Sathya Murthy, who previously worked for Tech Data, Novell and more recently Magirus, where he managed the company's VMware business (source : ITP Middle East).

Aptec subsidiary gains Cisco rights in KSA
2010-01-08
Saudi Arabia : Cisco has widened its channel supply chain in Saudi Arabia by awarding authorised distribution rights to Track Distribution, a subsidiary of Aptec Holdings. Speculation that the networking vendor was looking to appoint an additional distributor in KSA have been rife for some time given the scale of the market. Local distribution sales are currently managed by Al Jammaz and Logicom. Track says it will be able to provide Cisco with comprehensive coverage of the Saudi reseller channel as it operates offices and warehouses in Riyadh, Jeddah and Khobar. The partnership means Track now has Cisco rights for the entire Gulf region, as it is already an official distributor for the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, as well as Yemen, Pakistan and Afghanistan (source : ITP Middle East).
