Avnet opens a demo center around Oracle solutions
2012-01-02 Benelux : multispecialist Avnet Technology Solutions has opened a proof-of-concept demonstration facility in Brussels for the Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud engineered systems. This facility will help Avnet's business partners in the Benelux region address the business challenges of their end-user customers. Avnet is a Platinum level member in Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN). Avnet is one of the only value-add distributors to operate such a facility that has an experienced team in place, trained to inform partners and customers on these advanced Oracle solutions. The new center is one of the first in the EMEA region and focuses on companies that want to explore the possibilities of Oracle’s Exadata Database Machine and Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud. Customers can use the center for proofs of concept and performance benchmarks. In this way, they can transform business needs into proven IT solutions, while mitigating risk. As part of the Oracle Exastack program, OPN partners who utilize Avnet's Technology Center will be able to test and tune their applications on the latest major release of Oracle Exadata Database Machine and/or Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud component products, to achieve Oracle Exadata Ready and/or Oracle Exalogic Ready status. These products provide partners with a low cost and high performance infrastructure for database and application workloads across on-premise and cloud-based environments.

Eizo leaves Avnet
2011-12-21
Monitor vendor Eizo Nanao has decided to establish two wholly-owned subsidiaries in Germany and the United Kingdom, to expand its sales and marketing activities in Europe. The subsidiaries will operate in 14 countries where EIZO is currently represented by Avnet Technology Solutions, namely Austria, Belux, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, The Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia and the United Kingdom. The transition of current business from Avnet to Eizo will occur on January 1, 2012 in the United Kingdom and July 1, 2012 in other countries. Avnet has represented Eizo as its exclusive distributor in 14 countries in Europe for 26 years and has played an integral role in building a solid customer base and strong brand awareness there. However, as Eizo further expands into vertical markets and develops business with global customers, it has realized the need to represent itself as a single entity with one direct supply channel. For instance, customers in the industrial and air traffic control markets require long-term product supply which entails direct communication with the manufacturer. Eizo and Avnet have mutually concluded that Eizo should assume responsibility for all sales and marketing responsibilities as well as the entire customer base from Avnet and, in some cases, Avnet teams dedicated to Eizo (to ease the launch of its activities in the aforenamed countries). In other countries like France, Poland or Spain, Eizo will retain its local distributors (namely, Feeder, Alstor and Aryan).
Avnet Technology Solutions expands distribution agreement with Juniper Networks
2011-12-06 Germany : multispecialist Avnet Technology Solutions has expanded its distribution agreement with network vendor Juniper Networks. The distributor can now offer its complete portfolio of solutions to its value-added reseller (VAR) partners in the country, including networking solutions, such as WLAN, routing and Ethernet switching platforms, as well as security and application delivery solutions. Avnet will also provide its channel partners with technical training and sales enablement services. Avnet Technology Solutions has been selling network and security solutions from Juniper Networks in Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom for a number of years. Avnet’s partnership with Juniper Networks in Germany began in 2010, following Juniper Networks' acquisition of Trapeze Networks, an Avnet supplier since 2004. By drawing on its expertise with Juniper Networks solutions and leveraging existing demonstration, training and technical support services, Avnet Technology Solutions will be able to quickly provide an in-depth level of support to its partners in Germany. This, combined with local market knowledge, will give partners the support needed to deliver complete solutions based on Juniper Networks technology and profitably grow their businesses. In addition, Juniper Networks' solutions will be distributed via Avnet's centralized European warehouse, which will provide enhanced product availability and supply chain management.
