Vidyo signs distribution deal with Imago
2011-10-10
France : Radvision VAD Video Corporation, a subsidiary of AV VAD Imago, has signed a distribution agreement with HD video-conferencing specialist Vidyo. The announcement follows distribution deals between the two companies in the United Kingdom, Benelux and most recently China. Video Corporation will be marketing all solutions in the Vidyo range which is characterised by its unique ability to deliver video conferencing of the highest quality over wireless LAN, 3G networks and even unreliable Internet connections using the H264 Scalable Video Coding standard. By separating the video bit-streams into high reliability and low reliability channels, Vidyo’s specialist software is able to automatically and continuously sense the condition of the network and adjusts the bit-rate to accommodate problems such as packet loss, jitter, network bandwidth and network delay. This also means that the technology is flexible enough to adapt to changing processing power at the video source as well as at the receiving endpoints.

Polycom multiplies alliances and programs
2011-08-30
While it did not want to comment the impact of the acquisition of the video-conference division of HP over its distributor network, Polycom has unveiled its new partner program and another technology alliance.

Dubbed Choice Program, the new partner program aims to push its resellers to invest more in its technologies (A/V, industry specialization, Microsoft unified communications, VoIP, etc.). As a reward, its certified channel gets higher earnings. The goal is to strengthen the skills and commitment of its partners, to face more efficiently Cisco-Tandberg competition. This new partner program leans obviously on its distributors (organized by major specialties, such as network infrastructure, telephony or VoIP - that is Arrow ECS Network and Security, Itancia and Imago in France for example), which may become training centers if they wish.

Beside its POCN (Polycom Open Collaboration Network) alliance, launched last year ago with 8 partners around the Lync unified communications from Microsoft, Polycom plans to further simplify the interoperability of videoconferencing infrastructures with OVCC (Open Visual Communication Consortium). Like POCN, OVCC purpose is to be able to use any videoconferencing solution without having to worry about the infrastructure of the other users. A bit like the traditional telephony, since the dawn of time…

Imago finds a Diamond
2011-08-29
United Kingdom : AV VAD Imago has extended its videoconferencing portfolio with the Diamond range of cameras. These Chinese cameras, which include standard and high definition models, are marketed in the country through an OEM agreement, Imago wishing not to communicate the name of its partner. Imago chose them while looking for alternative supplies from Japan : according to the distributor, they offer a better price performance and margin than any of the current market leading VC cameras. It would not be a surprise to see these cameras soon marketed through the other Imago offices, in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Spain and South Africa.

Edit 4/9/2011 : these cameras are indeed available through all Imago offices in the EMEA region...

New partnership generates IPTV-in-a-box solution
2011-05-03
Video-over-IP VAD Imago Group has announced a new initiative for the IPTV market sector. Breeze Technologies, the MPEG and IPTV solutions developer, represented exclusively by Imago in Europe, has formed a new partnership with French IPTV middleware provider, Vianeos, which will allow the two companies to deliver an ‘IPTV in a box' solution. The agreement was finalised at last month's IPTV World Forum in London and brings together Breeze Technologies' TVIUM DVB-T set-top box, which captures and distributes digital TV and radio across the IP network, with Vianeos's Octopus middleware solution that allows customers to manage all the multimedia content distributed across their IPTV network. Imago has been working with Breeze Technologies for the last seven years distributing the TVium solution and will now broaden its relationship to help both Breeze and Vianeos bring the new package of products to market. Imago's breadth of product offering complements the new ‘IPTV in a box' solution, as it not only brings together content management middleware along with television channels via the TVium gateway, but in addition provides the ability to play out all of the multimedia created by utilising its Amino family of set top boxes. Breeze and Vianeos products are available through Imago offices in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom.
