Tintri announces global expansion into EMEA and APAC
2011-09-23
Tintri, a producer of VM-aware storage appliances, has unveiled its formal expansion into the EMEA and APAC markets through a distribution partnership with network and storage VAD Zycko. Zycko will integrate Tintri VMstore into its suite of leading-edge IT products and provide support to sales operations in the EMEA market, through its offices in France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Tintri will also be employing an EMEA-based high-touch sales force to complement these efforts.
An MBO for Zycko
2011-08-15 United Kingdom : network and storage VAD Zycko has been acquired through a management buyout by group managing director Nick Moglia, sales and marketing director David Galton-Fenzi and finance director Ken Wood. The trio acquired the majority share in the business from founder, Rory Sweet. Originally launched in 1999 from a single office, Zycko now has an annual turnover of around €140m, with offices in France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden and the United States as well as Touchline in the United Kingdom. Nick Moglia Zycko's group managing director, comments: "Helping to drive Zycko's success over the last decade has been a great experience. We are very much looking forward to the next phase in the company's development as we deliver even more growth. This will be achieved through a combination of vendor expansion, and further overseas offices, strengthening our position as a pan-European value-added distributor." Rory Sweet, a serial technology entrepreneur who previously founded and sold RBR Networks and MessageLabs, will remain on the board as a non-executive director.
Edit 05/09/2011 : Zycko informs us that there is and never was any legal relationship between it and Touchline. The article of CRN UK about the acquisition of Touchline by Zycko, dating back to the beginning of 2008, is thus false.
Silver Peak enters Europe
2011-01-03 Specialized in WAN optimization, Silver Peak Systems has decided to attack the European market by entering simultaneously in France, Germany and the United Kingdom. The company has also opened its European office, with 14 people working on sales and support for local customers. To better reach European resellers, the company has signed distribution partnerships with CDG (United Kingdom), Sysob (DACH region, through its offices in Austria, Germany and Switzerland) and Exclusive Networks. Limited in a first time to French market, the partnership with Exclusive Networks will be extended in a few months to Spain, Portugal, Italy, Belux and the Netherlands : "we wait until Exclusive Networks team are trained and start working before doing that. Also, we will leverage on Exclusive Storage business unit, to be able to work on optimization projects both on storage and network sides", explains Mike Betz, VP EMEA for Silver Peak. The company will also explore the Scandinavian markets later, then Eastern Europe and MEA.
Compared to its direct competitors, Riverbed (distributed by Zycko in several European countries) and Ipanema (distributed by Computerlinks in France, Secureway in MEA and TechAccess in Benelux), Silver Peak explains that its offer is much more simple and answers most needs without any additional modules : "definitely high-end, our seven appliances allow our resellers to get more margin", says Mike Betz. Targeted VARs and system integrators should be specialized in datacenters and networks. All will be trained by our distributors before being allowed to sell any product. Silver Peak plans to enter later virtualization/cloud market, thanks to virtual appliance versions of its products.
