Mustek hires e-learning champion

South Africa : broadliner Mustek has appointed e-learning specialist Kobus van Wyk to head up its newly established e-learning division. Van Wyk will lead technology initiatives within the African education environment by advancing the use of technology to reach learners nationwide. Kobus was previously programme director for the Khanya Project, a technology-based educational development effort which contributed into rolling out 45000 computers to 1400 schools and train 27000 teachers to use modern technology in an educational setting. Mustek supplied technology solutions to schools on behalf of the Khanya Project. Due to the success of this partnership, the e-learning environment has become a key focus and growth area for Mustek. Van Wyk will now work with government departments and NGOs to ensure the education sector in SA has access to technology. At the same time, he will focus on securing distribution partnerships for Mustek within these developmental efforts.

Mustek gets Acer accreditation

South Africa : broadliner Mustek has become the only local distributor to be registered as an accredited service provider for Acer products purchased from its registered dealer network. The company inked a distribution deal with the PC maker in February, joining existing local distributors, Axiz and Tarsus. This will place Mustek as the only complete local service provider for the Acer brand : all Acer products purchased from Mustek dealers will be serviced and repaired at Mustek's internal service division. The Acer service includes options around on-site warranties, carry-in warranties, and collect, repair and return service offerings.
