AirTies bets on wireless

Distree XXL : Turkish network vendor AirTies has unveiled on Distree XXL its wireless gateways, which allow to use any Internet-ready flat television to access wirelessly to the Internet. These gateways use 5 GHz bandwidth for more throughput and less interferences. “Wireless is more efficient than PLC in many countries where electric installation in houses and apartments are of average quality”, explains Özgür Yıldırım, product manager for AirTies. AirTies has developed a specific version of its gateway for easy USB sharing, as well as full IPTV set top boxes. All these products have an attractive design, not to clash in a living room. On Distree XXL, AirTies is looking forward expanding its international activities : “we target all countries within 5-hour flight from Istanbul, with a bigger focus on Nordics and Europe”, says Özgür Yıldırım. Currently, the company is present in Denmark, Dubai and India through telecom operators, and in Greece (Infoquest and Oktabit), Russia (Technotrade), Turkey (obviously, through Arena, Indeks and Penta), Ukraine (Yug Kontrakt) and, since very recently, in the United Kingdom thanks to a partnership with Micro Peripherals. With 30 meetings on Distree XXL, no doubt that AirTies brand will soon be know in many more countries even if it will be tough to enter some markets like France, where telecom operators have pushed there own boxes everywhere.

Russia : Turkish wireless network vendor AirTies continues its expansion in Europe. After Greece with Dionic, Infoquest and Int. Software Techniques, Azerbaijan with Soliton and Ukraine with Versiya Trading and Yug Kontrakt, the company has entered Russian market with broadliner Technotrade. The company has impressive goals, as it plans to reach a 10% marketshare within a year, and become local leader in a few years (source : Computer Reseller News Rossiya).

Westcon enters Greece

Greece : networking, convergence, security and mobility VAD Westcon Group has announced that its Westcon Convergence business practice is now distributing Avaya Enterprise and SME solutions into the Greek market, through a newly opened local office. Westcon Convergence Greek office is led by Petros Arapoglou, who was previously a product manager for broadliner Infoquest.
