Ingram Micro opens a new DC/POS subsidiary

Italy : broadliner Ingram Micro has opened a new DC/POS office in Milano. Ingram Micro Italia, divisione DC/POS currently counts people, Key Account Manager Andrea Negroni and Sales Specialist Angelo Brenna, and will focus on the usual brands of DC/POS in Europe, among which Datalogic, Datamax-O'Neil, Intermec, Motorola Solutions and Zebra. Italy was the last major European country where Ingram Micro was present and did not own a DC/POS office.

Michael Dressen joins Tech Data

Michael Dressen, who has long been ALSO's director in Germany, has joined the ranks of its competitor Tech Data as director of its businesses in Austria and Germany. He replaces Isabelle Roux-Buisson who takes in charge the value (aka TD-Azlan) business in Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein and Switzerland. On its side, Els Demeester, who once was in charge of Tech Data operations in DACH and Benelux regions, now focuses only on Benelux (Belgium and the Netherlands).

CPS signs with Duophon

Typhoon up for sale

Germany : following the bankruptcy of its latest owner, consumer electronics specialist PC Live Distribution, the Typhoon brand of accessories is, once again, on sale. The brand seems cursed for its owners : its creator Anubis went bankrupt. The brand was then acquired by broadliner COS Distribution, who has to get rid of it to PC Live because of a dispute with the copyright collective Orleando. One will see if a new owner will found, or if the brand will be definitely doomed.

EET in RAID with United Digital

Danish broadliner and sparepart specialist EET has acquired British RAID server vendor United Digital and its Mac-oriented brand Hive. The goal is to push its high-end products out of the United Kingdom. Thus, United Digital servers should be available soon to resellers in Europe through EET offices in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, while Hive products were already distributed in all countries.
