Cebit under the Chinese sign
The 29th edition of the Cebit IT event will take place next week in Hanover, Germany. The organizers plan about 3300 exhibitors from 70 countries and 201 000 visitors. The inviting country will be, this year, China. With 600 exhibitors (including giants like Alibaba, Baidu, Huawei, Xiaomi or ZTE) and a central stand of 6000sqm, the Chinese delegation will be, by far, the biggest over the past years. One of the key focus of this edition will be d!conomy, the digital economy, or how to digitize and streamline processes to gain in efficiency and costs, with vendors like Konica Minolta (returning after several years of absent) which will present their services of consulting, implementation and management of printing and document solutions. Another huge trend will be, of course, the IoT (Internet of Things) with vendors like Tesla (electric cars), XYZ Printing (3D printers) or Swiss vendor digitalSTROM, which has developed a device to network household appliances using the power supply lines. DigitalSTROM products are already available in the Netherlands through Copaco, Viertron and Zelenko. No doubt digitalSTROM will be able to find new customers and distributors in the remaining Europe through its Cebit presence.
As usually, Hall 14 and 15 will be dedicated to Planet Reseller, the channel-specialized division of Cebit. Major German distributors will be present, including Acmeo, Action Europe, API, Boston Server & Storage, Brightstar 20:20 Mobile (also through its British headquarters, to reach international customers), COS Computer, ENO telecom, Herweck, imcopex, Intos Electronic, Komsa, Littlebit Technology, MK Computer, Pearl, Pilot or Wortmann (also in Hall 4). Only missing is Ingram Micro, which has opted for its own, regional or thematical events. Planet Reseller will also gather some foreign distributors like Austrian Tekpoint, Belgian ATC, British Elite Mobile, New Way International and PSA Parts, Emirati Daisytek, Maltese Domo Trading, Polish Action, Amco, Komputronik, Platinet and Wilk Elektronik, Romanian SC Gersim Impex, Serbian Geneko (Hall 13) or Spanish Informatica Megasur, trade platforms like Handelot or GSM Exchange as well as loads of smaller traders and brokers from all around the world (including no less than 24 companies from Dubai !). In total, Planet Reseller will include about 250 exhibitors, trading both on the German and international markets. Some German distributors have chosen not to exhibit in Planet Reseller, in a bid to reach a broader panel of visitors, including some end customers : ADN (Halls 4 and 6), Alldis (Hall 13), Allnet (Hall 13), ALSO (Halls 4 and 13), Avnet (Hall 2 and 3), Ectacom (Hall 6), Incom Storage (Hall 3), Infinigate (Hall 6), MCL (Hall 2 and 4), Sysob (Hall 6), TD Azlan (Hall 11), Tech Data (Hall 2), Wick Hill (Hall 6).
Like the past few years, the Cebit will focus on professional visitors. It will be closed on the week-end, and the entrance price will be higher, to dissuade non-professionals to enter. Ten more days to wait, to see if the goals were reached…
