Ingram Micro Hires a New VP

Broadliner Ingram Micro has hired Jonas Elmgren as its new Nordic VP, in charge of the distributor business in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Until 18 months ago, Jonas was responsible for major parts of Ingram's nemesis Tech Data.

After years of living in Spain and Portugal, Jonas has acquired a great deal of knowledge about the cultural differences that can arise in the business world and this particular experience is valuable when he is now responsible for the entire Nordic region at Ingram Micro.

"One of the reasons I got curious when I was first contacted by Mark Snider (EVP & Global Group President for EMEA at Ingram Micro) was that the combination of challenges and opportunities that lie in the role is very enticing. I am a person who likes a bit of troubled waters, where I have to fold my arms up with the theme to reach the goals we have set", says Jonas Elmgren.

Jonas has 32 years of experience from the industry and started his career in the warehouse in Scribona which was later acquired by Tech Data. The distributor's place in the value chain is unique and provides the opportunity to collaborate with all of the market's leading partners and this is precisely the main reason why Jonas remains in the industry.

"I love our ecosystem where leading suppliers and partners interact and, through their very capable staff, add value. In a larger perspective, we are an important part of society and the modern economy where digitalisation is a part of everyday life, this challenges us to remain at the forefront", adds Elmgren.

With his experience, Ingram Micro's impressive product portfolio and talented colleagues, Jonas will now build a modern, Nordic player. "Initially, I have two focus areas; our service level and the people in the organization. Our level of service should be state-of-the-art in the areas we work in and should be what defends our existence. To make this possible, we must have a motivated and welded organisation that is adapted to our offerings to the market”, explains Elmgren. "Ingram Micro has all the components needed to build a business that will be even more efficient in the future and it will be incredibly exciting to see where this can end."
