German Ebertlang and Italian Achab, distributors specialising in IT infrastructure and security solutions for MSPs, join forces. The award-winning German VAD takes its first step outside the DACH area with the acquisition of the Italian distributor, moving towards the goal of establishing a pan-European entity serving managed service providers.
The strategic value of a pan-European distributor has long been clear to both the two managing directors of Ebertlang, Philip Weber and Marcus Zeidler, and the managing director of Achab, Andrea Veca. The synergies and sharing of experience greatly increase the breath, vision and insights to be offered to customers, and of course the completeness of the offer.
At the beginning of their tenure in the first part of 2021, Weber and Zeidler declared their intention to develop this value and, in the same year, opened an office in Switzerland, in Pfäffikon, and acquired the German distributor 8Soft GmbH, consolidating their presence in the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland).
Given the unity of vision of Weber, Zeidler and Veca, the next step came naturally. Weber and Veca have been working together for almost ten years and it only took a phone call to understand each other instantly and decide to embark on this journey together.
"The company's pan-European expansion, also outside the DACH region, is a key aspect of our growth strategy. With Italy, we are reaching a market that has strong parallels to the DACH region and allows us to fully utilise our strengths", explains Philip Weber, CEO of Ebertlang.
Strengths very much in line with those of Achab, an established and successful player in the Italian retail scene for over 25 years. Achab, like Ebertlang, positioned itself very early and without hesitation in the MSP world. Thanks to this union, IT service providers in DACH and Italy will benefit from the combined know-how of the teams in Wetzlar, Milan and Pfäffikon (CH).
"Achab is the perfect complement to our group of companies", Weber continues. "Andrea Veca and the well-established Achab team not only pursue an almost identical offering strategy as Ebertlang, they also share with us the same quality standards, the same values and our enthusiasm for working for the channel and MSPs. Together we can implement important topics such as advanced automation, security and cloud service management even more efficiently. In short, further develop our vision of a modern value-added distributor."
Andrea Veca is enthusiastic about the merger of the companies: "this is the opportunity I have been waiting for. I have known and appreciated Philip Weber and the Ebertlang team for many years. Joining forces with them allows us to preserve our values while further developing our competencies and exploiting synergies that will undoubtedly benefit our customers as well as those in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. We are looking forward to a successful start of cooperation with our new colleagues."
Marcus Zeidler explains the next steps: "Achab will, for the time being, continue to operate independently under its own brand. Our long-term goal, however, is to develop a European VAD group under a common corporate umbrella, which still leaves the individual group companies sufficient freedom to continue to respond individually to the specific needs of their local markets and to express the value that our partners appreciate so much today."
