Broadliner Tech Data is expanding its Data & IoT portfolio with the addition of German manufacturer thingsTHINKING, which has developed semantha, a semantic AI-based data processing solution that can bring essential efficiency and productivity benefits to all industries with a large amount of text processing.
Tech Data sales partners in the DACH region now have access to the future-proof NLP solution from thingsTHINKING GmbH, the company founded in Karlsruhe in 2017 and winner of several awards (including from KI-Champions Baden-Württemberg).
Maximilian Wieser, Teamlead IoT & Data of Tech Data's Business Unit Next Gen, on the signing of the contract: "I am very pleased that with semantha we can offer a modern AI solution for semantic data processing developed in Germany. With thingsTHINKING, we have gained a manufacturer whose solution can compare unstructured data at the meaning level instead of the word level and can be used especially in highly text-oriented areas."
Users save significant time in document review processes when using semantha as an automated reading aid. The software quickly finds relevant text passages and compares their content - this does not happen at word level, but the AI solution compares the meaning of individual text passages. The use of the software lends itself to all industries with a high proportion of word processing - but is also predestined for use in legal departments and HR areas.
"semantha fits perfectly with our Data & IoT orientation", adds Wieser. "Not only recognising texts, but also being able to understand and compare their meaning opens up incredible potential for working more efficiently with document-driven processes. I see it being used in a wide variety of industries: in banking and insurance, in HR departments, in the legal sector, but also wherever more extensive documentation is required, for example in the automotive or aviation sectors, as well as in a wide variety of industries. The AI solution is used everywhere where text has to be compared, understood and next action steps derived from it."
This was also the task at Gothaer Versicherungs AG, which uses the semantic platform to check broker texts, new insurance conditions and framework agreements. The insurance group, which counts private customers as well as small and medium-sized enterprises, self-employed persons and freelancers among its customers and is represented via a broker structure, has been able to significantly reduce the effort involved in reviewing and comparing documents and contracts. In most cases, it is mainly the wording in detail and the structures of the various works that differ - and it was precisely at this point in the process that a high level of manual effort arose that could not be automated until now. With the use of semantha, it is estimated that a saving of approx. 40-50% could be realised compared to previous manual work.
Dr.- Ing. Sven J. Körner, CEO & Founder of thingsTHINKING GmbH, comments: "after more than 14 years of research in the field of speech processing with artificial intelligence, we founded thingsTHINKING. From the very beginning, it was important to us to massively increase the benefits for users in document-driven processes - because sifting through texts still takes up far too much valuable time in many industries today. Therefore, I am very pleased that we can now start the cooperation with Tech Data and their sales partners and offer our solution to an even broader target group."
