Broadliner Tech Data has appointed Jason Boxall to the role of senior vice president, Advanced and Specialised Solutions, Europe. He succeeds Miriam Murphy who has recently left Tech Data to join the technology services provider NTT Ltd as CEO, Europe.

Boxall, who will sit on Tech Data’s European executive board, now holds overall leadership responsibility for Tech Data’s advanced solutions operations and technology portfolio – which includes solutions for infrastructure, hybrid cloud, software, analytics/IoT and cybersecurity – as well as the specialised businesses Maverick AV Solutions and Datech Solutions.

A tech industry veteran, Boxall joined Tech Data in 2016 as European head of the company’s Cisco business unit before advancing to the role of vice president, vendors and alliances, Europe. In this role he has led the development of the company’s advanced solutions vendor portfolio for the European region and has driven the strategic relationships with key vendor partners. Prior to joining Tech Data, Boxall served for 19 years at Cisco, holding a number of senior channel-focused positions including head of European distribution.

Patrick Zammit, president Europe for Tech Data, said: “Jason brings in-depth knowledge of our organisation and great connections within the IT industry, especially with key infrastructure vendors, to his new role. I am confident that our advanced solutions business will continue to thrive under his leadership; it is additionally pleasing to make an internal appointment for this role as a demonstration of the strength in depth of our talented leadership team.

Boxall added: “under Miriam’s leadership, Tech Data’s Advanced Solutions business has cemented its place at the heart of the technology ecosystem. We will continue to focus on enabling our partners to accelerate their adoption of new technologies and business models, bringing our own best-in-class tools, expertise and insights. And as part of TD SYNNEX, we have the opportunity to leverage our breadth and strength as a global leader in distribution and solutions aggregation. I look forward to accelerating on our journey in collaboration with our vendors, partners and the whole Tech Data team.

Murphy departs Tech Data after five years with the business, preceded by more than 18 years with Avnet TS prior to its acquisition by Tech Data. In this time, she has held a number of senior roles including regional, operational and technology leadership positions. In addition, she recently played a key part in establishing Tech Data’s diversity, equity and inclusion program in Europe.

It has been a privilege to work alongside Miriam for many years. Thanks to her vital leadership contribution, Tech Data has become an established leader in infrastructure, next generation and specialist technology segments. She has built, developed and engaged a solid and highly capable team at country and European level. We wish her every success with her new endeavours”, said Zammit.

Murphy said: “leading the Advanced and Specialised Solutions business over the past four years has been an extremely fulfilling experience. Not only did we integrate two great businesses, but we drove growth and transformation, delivering incremental value to our vendor and customer partners. I am excited by the opportunity of my next career chapter but will miss the extraordinary talent of the team that I have had the privilege to lead at Tech Data. I am in no doubt that handing the reigns over to a leader of Jason’s calibre will ensure the ongoing success and transformation of this tremendous business.
