Kevin Wragg, director, environment and quality compliance of Tech Data UK
Broadliner Tech Data UK is pushing forward with its net zero carbon commitments, announcing Kevin Wragg as director, environment and quality compliance. In this newly-created role Wragg, an experienced member of Tech Data’s senior leadership team, will drive forward the company’s plans to minimise its environmental impact.
Commenting on his new role, Kevin Wragg stated: “there has never been a better time to embrace the energy and passion that exist around moving towards net zero carbon. Also, at some point, customers and vendors are going to want to know where Tech Data is on its journey and ask us to demonstrate our environmentally-friendly actions and processes. We want to get on the front foot now and do what's right for our customers, vendors, Tech Data and our planet.”
Wragg will be working with all areas of the business on actions and initiatives aimed at taking Tech Data towards the attainment of its goals.
David Watts, senior vice president, Tech Data, UK and Ireland, added: “climate change is the most pressing issue facing us all. With this key appointment, Tech Data UK and Ireland is making a firm commitment to achieving net zero carbon and driving the sustainability agenda. We see this as a vitally important part of our strategy going forward.”
Tech Data is already working with a leading net zero carbon consultancy named Arete Zero Carbon, which is led by Dr Stephen Finnegan to understand its current carbon footprint, and putting plans in place to accelerate towards the achievement of net zero carbon.
In addition to the sustainability and environment agenda, Wragg will be working with teams across Tech Data to apply ISO standardisation of practices and processes. While Tech Data already has ISO9001 in place at its logistics centre in Magna Park, it is now planning to implement these standards throughout the UK business and to also apply the ISO14001 standard for Environmental Management Systems.
He will also take on responsibility for ensuring that Tech Data meets all of the necessary regulatory requirements for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment recycling (WEEE) and disposes of electrical and electronic equipment ethically and efficiently.
