Tech Data invests in AI Team

June 22, 2018

Broadliner Tech Data Germany has formed a new focus team that takes care of Artificial Intelligence and enables sales partners to start and implement AI-related projects.

The 7-people-strong AI Acceleration expert team of the Munich distributor will be responsible for the development and expansion of the artificial intelligence project business. In addition to facilitating entry into this complex topic and focusing on the growth field of AI, the experts will primarily support sales partners in projects.

For the acquisition and implementation of customer projects from channel partners, the team uses available resources from established IT providers and coordinates the cooperation with third-party providers (e.g. startups, ISVs, etc.). The development of the ecosystem between traditional partners and new service providers (startups, AI solution providers, ISVs, consulting firms, etc.) is at the forefront of the mission.

The team, which has mature expertise and comprehensive know-how in AI, Cognitive Infrastructure Business, High Performance Computing and Cloud, consists of business development experts, client technical architects and sales professionals with AI expertise. The expert team will be headed by Dr. Karsten Johannsen as Business Development Executive, and Detlev Jacobs at AI Team Leader.

Barbara Koch, Managing Director Advanced Solutions of Tech Data Germany & Austria, welcomes the new team of experts: "I am very proud to present the first AI team of experts in distribution in DACH. With our investment in the Artificial Intelligence Acceleration Team, we continue to place this focus topic in retail and intend to identify and implement new partners and projects. Applications such as deep learning, machine learning or power AI require solutions that process data at extremely high speeds - the offering with solutions such as Watson, cloud services and infrastructure offerings is predestined for this. In the future, our sales partners may also expect software solutions from other manufacturers."
